Year Of the Metal Ox

The Ox is the second sign of the Chinese zodiac. Like its predecessor and complement, the Rat, it is about beginnings, not endings. The main difference is the Ox is associated with building to last and slow but sure action, not generating a bunch of new projects. Even more so than last year we all  have to make good choices; as, that which is done now is likely to have long term consequences.

So what is the Ox all about? Ox style is all about determination, working hard, and shouldering responsibilities. The Ox is probably the strongest (physically) of the 12, Chinese signs. So hard work is likely to get the Ox’s blessing this year. We can draw on the Ox’s strength and determination to deal with our toughest problems. This is the year to tackle our biggest challenges.

And, wow, what a perfect time for the Ox to come along. I like to call the Ox The Atlas sign, after the character from Greek mythology. He’s famous for carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Yup, the Ox is all about shouldering responsibilities. Unfortunately, we’re still going to have to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. Although vaccines are on the way, most people won’t be getting them until Spring or even Summer. So many people have been facing hard times. And before we finally get the pandemic under control, there will probably be a lot more people in that condition. It’s very much an Ox thing to help each other out, to be a good neighbor, to take on added responsibilities at work and at home. That won’t be easy for people who are hurting. All I can say is look around, there may be other people hurting even more than us.
