Daily Horoscopes - January 11th to January 17th, 2021

January 11th, 2021 - Day of the Earth Sheep

Every now and then one of these days comes around where it seems like it just doesn’t pay to get out of the bed in the morning. I’m afraid this is one of those. Finding harmony could be difficult for us. The Chinese Almanac calls this a Destruction Day, but what should we destroy? To answer that I look to the day’s Earth energy, which is the same as the month’s. That tells me to do something practical. Also, we don’t have to destroy something; just getting rid of clutter will work for example.

Tong Shu: It is suitable only for destroying unwanted things, And inauspicious to carry out important activities on this day

January 12th, 2021 - Day of the Metal Monkey

Sometimes different astrologers see things differently. The Tong Shu tells us to avoid any important activity. That’s hard to take after we told you the same thing yesterday. To be honest, I don’t completely agree. If your sign is one of those in the Rat, Dragon, Monkey compatibility group, I say go do your thing. This is especially true if it’s something you’ll be doing by yourself. The rest of us probably should heed the Almanac’s advice and play it safe.

Tong Shu: This is a day that is considered dangerous and uncertain, The energies of this day are volatile and unstable.

January 13th, 2021 - Day of the Metal Rooster

Today’s the first day of the lunar month of the Earth Ox. Lucky us. Metal Rooster is one of the most favorable signs to partner with it. The Tong Shu agrees with me. It calls today an Officer Day and claims it the most auspicious compared to others. The day’s Metal combines perfectly with the month’s Earth energy to make this an auspicious time for business and dealing with financial matters.

Tong Shu: This is the most auspicious day compared to the other officer days

January 14th, 2021 - Day of the Water Dog

By now you probably know I don’t slavishly follow the Chinese Almanac. It calls today “a favorable day for wishful activity” and gives the green light to all sorts of activity. I look at today’s Water and see it in a destructive relationship with this month’s Earth energy. Also, Dog and Ox don’t make good music together. Do what you want. As for me, I’m playing it close to the vest today. I’m not taking any chances.

Tong Shu: It is a favorable day for wishful activity

January 15th, 2021 - Water Pig

It’s been painful to do this week’s daily horoscopes. Again today I have to go against the prevailing wisdom of the Chinese Almanac. It calls this an Open Day and recommends beginning new activities of many kinds. Well, Pig is the last of the 12, Chinese signs, so I associate it with closures. And, as with yesterday, this month’s Earth energy is in a destructive relationship with today’s Water. Unless your Chinese sign is Rabbit/Goat or Sheep, I would think twice about how I’m going to approach this day.

Tong Shu: An Open Day is a good day for beginnings and commencement of activity.

January 16th, 2021 - Day of the Wood Rat

Back to normal. I agree with the Tongshu. And you might be surprised at that. Rat is the first sign in the Chinese Zodiac, generally favorably associated with starting new activity. Yet the Almanac says no. Some of you may have already heard this from me, but I probably pay more attention to the energy of the heavenly stems (elements) than do many other Chinese astrologers. The thing is today’s Wood energy destroys this Earth month’s Luck That tells me Luck, in the sense of favorable timing, is not with us today, in spite of it being ruled by the Rat!

Tong Shu: It is not auspicious to start any important activity on this day

January 17th, 2021 - Wood Ox

Oh no! I’m going to end the week with a theme that has come up more than once. I’m a maverick; I don’t just blindly go along with the Tong Shu! Most Chinese Astrology signs do not go great with their own sign. Although Ox with Ox is far from a disastrous match, it is only so-so at best. Moreover, today’s Wood is in a destructive cycle when it is paired with Earth, this month’s energy. The Tong Shu does advise avoiding groundbreaking, marriage, funerals and burials, and I agree. Today’s especially inauspicious for relationships, not just marriage. We need to be on our best behavior and be sensitive to the emotional needs of our partners. Having said that, I still think the Almanac’s list of recommends is way too long. Your choice. I hope you make a good one.

Tong Shu: It is simply a good day to start or commence something. The energies of the Initiate Day promotes a smooth beginning.
